Who is at risk?
Many of the factors that influence the probabilities of getting ampullary cancer cannot be helped. For example, being African American heightens the chances. Males are more likely to get ampullary cancer. People over the age of 45 are, too. The reasons for this are unknown. But obesity can also increase the chances of getting this form of cancer because of the lack of exercise. Occupational exposure, like being exposed to pesticides regularly, dyes, and chemicals, can influence the chances of ampullary cancer. Smoking doubles the chances of having ampullary cancer.
